Red Crow Community College student residence is part of the future campus Master Plan to be located in Southern, Alberta. The state of the art 61-bed / 49-unit mixed-use facility will house the resources needed for academic excellence including a study room (group rooms and private study carrels), an on-site day care, a recreation room, a lobby that functions as a gathering area and a reception post to welcome visitors and new students. The goal of the design was to maximize the number of beds, while creating gracious community spaces. A variety of family types are accommodated in self-contained dormitory rooms, 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom units with eight accessible units available.

Well-lit sidewalks, permeable paving, street plantings, and bicycle racks make for a safe and active addition to the campus streetscape. Focusing on the natural beauty of materials for the entry level – polished concrete and natural pine – with the floors above highlighting the four directions, their associated colors and meanings, the building will have a strong identity and sense of place. The design process involved extensive consultation with Red Crow staff, students and Elders.
